WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said a Durham pair is accused of having and trafficking methamphetamine. A young child was with the pair at the time of the arrest, they said.
Deputies said Ciro Alfonso Lazo and Sofia Chicas Romero were arrested Monday during an investigation. Deputies said they were in possession of 1.125 kg of the drug.
Both suspects are charged with trafficking more than 400 grams of meth and were booked in the Columbus County Jail under $1 million bonds each. Deputies said Romero’s 5-year-old child was present at the arrest and is now in custody of Child Protective Services
