CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office confirms that a body has been found in the Carolina Beach State Park area.
New Hanover County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating after the body of an unidentified Hispanic male was recovered from the Cape Fear River near the Carolina Beach State Park boat ramp. The body was discovered by two fishermen and removed from the water by Sheriff’s Office personnel.
The body was examined on scene and did not reveal any signs of foul play, but initially appears to be consistent with a drowning. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time, and it has not been determined where the man entered the water.
The investigation is ongoing.
