PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An actor who has shot in our area before will return later this month as part of an online adventure series.
Christopher McDonals, perhaps best known for his role as Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore,” will be among the 50 teams that will roll into Topsail Island Sept. 29 and 30 as part of “Fireball Run.”
McDonald shot the movie “The Squeeze” in Wilmington in the fall of 2013 and infamously was charged for DWI shortly after getting to town.
“Fireball Run,” which is available online and through streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, features 50 teams traveling more than 1,400 miles in the Race to Recover America’s Missing Children. While raising awareness for children, the teams will explore eight destinations starting in Hartford, CT, and concluding at Cocoa Beach, FL.
“Topsail Island is Day 4 of their great adventure,” Pender County Tourism Director Tammy Proctor said in a news release. “The public is welcomed to watch the team arrive on Sept. 29, between 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Or watch them leave the island on Sept. 30, at 9:30 a.m.
McDonald will join corporate leaders from industry, four astronauts, and four celebrities in Fireball Run 2015: Space Race. Fifty teams travel more than 1400 miles in the Race to Recover America’s Missing Children. While raising awareness for children, the teams will explore eight destinations starting in Hartford, Conneticut and concluding at Cocoa Beach, Florida.
