WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While visiting the Port City, Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin touched on the recent historic storm and its effects on insurance in our region.
Goodwin was visiting seniors in the area to deliver meals and check on smoke detectors. In between locations, he said it’s too early to tell how the flooding will affect the area.
“It is certainly an opportunity for me to talk to our federal representatives, and insurance companies, and others about insuring that our maps are up to date and to protect homeowners from any unnecessary increases,” Goodwin said.
Goodwin added he’s focused on ensuring North Carolinians will only pay what’s necessary for flood insurance, which is controlled at the state level.
