BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — A $975,000 federal grant will help a Brunswick county court program keep going.
The county is the only one in the state to get the grant.
The money will fund drug treatment courts to help people with substance abuse and mental health issues. Judge Ola Lewis runs the program and says the money will benefit the entire community.
“We will be able to expand services to the community through increased treatment modalities,” said Lewis. “We will also provide transportation expenses to and from treatment.”
Lewis says the treatment program sees about 135 participants each year.
