BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — There have been 15 heroin-related deaths in Brunswick County so far this year, and the Sheriff’s Office is implementing an operation to battle the drug problem.
“Heroin in the county has taken more lives than any other drug,” Brunswick County Assistant District Attorney Chris Thomas said.
Today, Sheriff John Ingram and members of the Drug Enforcement Unit held a media briefing to discuss “Operation You’re Next” which focuses solely on arresting heroin dealers.
“Dealers, we’re going to lock up every single one of them without hesitation,” said Ingram.
So far, there have been 12 arrests of dealers in Brunswick County, and the sheriff’s office plans to make 80 more arrests.
