WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover High School students are catching up on some reading while getting those intellectual juices flowing. The school has purchased three exercise bikes for students to read and ride.
School reports say physical activity can increase blood flow to the brain, sharpen neurological function and improve concentration.
Melissa George, New Hanover High School media coordinator, said they are always looking for ways to get students in the library.
“Really my goal, my overriding goal is anything I can do to get kids in here, using the media center, reading and being successful,” said George.
George said the bikes are a big hit with the students and she hopes other schools will put recumbent bikes in their libraries.
