BAMAKO, Mali (AP) — A Mali army commander says about 20 hostages have been freed from a Radisson hotel in Bamako that was seized by gunmen, but another three people have been confirmed dead.
The gunmen took over the hotel today, throwing grenades and initially taking hostage 170 people.
The commander says 10 gunmen stormed the hotel shouting “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is great,” in Arabic before firing on the guards and taking hostages.
