WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Commission has a new chair.
Republican Beth Dawson was voted chair by fellow commissioners Jonathan Barfield and Rob Zapple, both democrats. Their votes, combined with her vote, got her the position over Woody White’s two votes. Barfield, the former chair, will now be vice chair.
This isn’t the first time Dawson has been involved in a bi-partisan vote in the commission. Last year, she received criticism for supporting Barfield as chair.
