WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Salvation Army and Toys for Tots are in the midst of some of their busiest days of the year and rely on their many volunteers to successfully get those toys to families.
Local Marines were some of the volunteers who spent their day volunteering at the Salvation Army’s Distribution Center.
From toting Christmas trees to carrying bicycles and bags of toys to cars, the Marines had a busy day. Marine Drew Howser says the hard work is worth it at the end of the day.
“Honestly, when you see the families when you hand them the toys, just the glitter in their eyes and see them smiling, it makes it worthwhile,” Howser said.
