Brogden Holiday Tournament tips off on Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 22nd Annual Leon Brogden Holiday Tournament will get underway on Monday morning on the campus of UNCW. New Hanover girls head coach Vertha Dixon-Wright and the Wildcats will start the event off on Monday morning at Trask Coliseum. “We are matched up with T.W. Andrews out of High Point,” Dixon-Wright told us. “They are a very successful program. We want to play tough competition. We want it. It will hopefully make us better down the road, unfortunately we play at 11 oclock that morning on the 28th and I guess we’ll be driving around town picking em up around 8.” The Laney boys also play at 11am on Monday. Nathan Faulk’s squad will face undefeated Cary. “We have a tall task ahead of us, but we’re looking forward to it. We look forward to an exciting Brogden tournament.
We’ll have Marquan Miller back on Monday. We have had 5 games without him and everyone has done a good job of picking up the slack with out him, but getting him in the lineup will certainly help us on the offensive end.
