MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) – Myrtle Beach authorities are investigating the death of a woman found slumped over in a car as a homicide.
Horry County police tell local media outlets a 78-year-old woman was found inside her car Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Myrtle Beach Mall.
Police Lt. Raul Denis says officers responded to a shooting call. Denis says the woman’s daughter told them she found her mother and called police. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Denis says police are waiting on the coroner to release an official cause of death before saying if there actually was a shooting. Neither police nor the coroner immediately returned messages Friday.
Denis says the mall is open and that authorities don’t think anyone else there is in danger.
