BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Lamarr McDow says the reason Powerball winner Marie Holmes has put up a sizable chunk of her fortune to get him out of jail is simple. She wants to “stand by her man.”
“‘We are a couple, and I am the father of her youngest child,” McDow is quoted as telling the Daily Mail in a recently published article. “This is what people do for each other. She has the money, and she can do what she wants with it.”
In his first interview, McDow opened up to the Daily Mail about life since Holmes hit the jackpot last February and was able to get him out of jail under $3 million bond as he waits to go to trial on heroin charges and subsequent $6 million and $12 million bonds after investigators said he violated the terms of his pre-trial release.
McDow also says he isn’t with Holmes because of her money, and that indeed the fortune that has changed their lives has come with its down sides, including harassment from neighbors that has drive the couple from their gated Shallotte neighborhood.
