CFCC hosts volunteer fair

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — From surfing clubs to food pantries, CFCC students got a chance to get involved in local organizations and charities at the college’s Involvement Fair today.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to give students a chance to visit between classes. Community organizations and school clubs set up tables to provide information for potential volunteers.

Thomas Russell set up a table for his organization, Step Up for Soldiers, in hopes to meet veterans who are enrolled at the college.

“We’re looking to do two scholarships, so I was hoping to meet some of the veterans here today, and I want to engage them in setting up the criteria as to how we give money out to the veterans in the college,” Russell said.

Russell says his organization plans to give $1,000 scholarships to two students at CFCC and two at UNCW.
