LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Leland says it had a sewer spill in a neighborhood earlier over the weekend.
According to a news release the town says it believes increased volume in the line from heavy rain caused the discharge of about 1,500 gallons of untreated wastewater from a manhol in front of 1352 Grandiflora Drive in the Magnolia Greens subdivision.
The town says the sewage flowed from the manhole lid to the street stormwater collection system. Town personnel responded immediately to the overflow and followed all protocol in evaluating and determining the cause. No blockages, broken pipes, or faulty equipment were discovered.
