WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington City Council is considering whether to spend money on upgrades at Legion Stadium.
On the council’s agenda tonight is a proposal to replace the stadium’s sound system and scoreboard. The total cost of the project is $115,000. The city’s share is $33,333. New Hanover County and New Hanover County Schools would each pay $33,000. The other $15,000 would come from private donations, including $10,000 from the Wilmington Hammerheads, who are one of the stadium’s primary tenants.
According to the agenda item, the county manager says he plans to include the county’s share of the cost in next year’s budget, while the school district approved its share last month.
City Council meets at 6:30 p.m.
