Covil for NC House created a website on the domain name HollyGrange.com. The site draws connections to Grange’s company and the political controversy in Benghazi, Libya, a topic that has come up before in this race. After Grange held a news conference to discuss the website in her name yesterday, Covil sent out an email today calling for Grange’s withdrawal.
“If Holly Grange thinks that using the former senior advisor to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to secretly lobby on behalf of Osprey, while he was pushing Clinton to go to war in Benghazi, is not relevant to the state House seat she seeks, she simply cannot be trusted to represent District 20 in Raleigh,” Covil said in the email. “I call on her to immediately withdraw from this race.”
Within minutes of getting the email, WWAY called and emailed Covil requesting an interview to discuss the contents of the message. Neither request has been answered. Covil also did not return calls last night to discuss HollyGrange.com.
“I’m trying to be very positive, talk about the issues,” Grange said in an interview last night. “It’s a distraction from what we need to be talking about.”
