BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Students involved in a disruption at a high school that turned into a viral social media post are now facing charges.
According to Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki, several students were involved in the incident. She said they put the Confederate Battle Flag on display in the school’s courtyard and then wore it as a cape.
Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Emily Flax said three misdemeanor criminal summons were issued from the incident. Two students also involved were juveniles, so they were not charged.
Two males from the flag incident on Wednesday and one female from an incident in the cafeteria yesterday are facing a charge. They were all cited for the same charge – disorderly conduct.
