WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Greenfield Lake area is now a little greener. Tuesday members of the Conservation Committee of the Cape Fear Garden Club and the New Alliance for Cape Fear Trees planted six redbuds around Greenfield Lake.
This was the first official planting through the New Alliance for Cape Fear Trees. The group was founded to give organizations ways to collect and donate funds for projects like these.
Connie Parker, chairwoman of the New Alliance for Cape Fear Trees, said trees are important to our community and lives.
“It feels good being able to do this and plant anything and trees in particular that will be here long after we’re gone,” said Parker.
Linda Snider, chairwoman of the Conservation Committee of the Cape Fear Garden Club, said they were delighted to help the New Alliance for Cape Fear Trees on this project.
“We really support the planting of new trees and we were so happy to give some of our funds to the Cape Fear Alliance,” said Snider.
