HISTORIC HOME TOUR: Fox-Holden House

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — You can’t miss the Fox-Holden House at 109 North 9th Street. It’s part of this weekend’s Azalea Festival Home Tour in Wilmington.

Why can’t you miss it? Well, because it’s pink, bubble-gum pink. The sweet color fits this cute house built in 1865.

Dan Brawley, who is the executive director for Cucalorus, bought it after the film festival moved into Jengo’s Playhouse, which is around the corner.

He said he finished a renovation a year and a half ago, and enjoyed peeling back the layers of history for a type of house that usually does not last.

“Because it’s not a big, fancy mansion like a lot of the houses that you see on home tours, and what you dream up romantically when you think of a historic house,” Brawley said.

The Fox-Holden house is not the only one that Brawley owns. He also owns the Scarborough House that completes the Cucalorus Campus, and is also part of the Azalea Festival Home Tour Saturday and Sunday.
