SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A bill that has sparked some controversy in Sunset Beach is making its way through the state senate.
Sunset Beach Mayor Ron Watts said Senate Bill 875 was passed by the State and Local Government Committee Tuesday.
Senate Bill 875 points out three Sunset Beach locations to be deannexed. The properties are Palm Cove on the east end of the island, the Sunset Beach West development on the west end near Bird Island and Sunset Commons apartments on Seaside Road.
Watts said the bill will now go to the Finance Committee before it goes to the Senate for a vote.
