WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Fred Lynch Invitational Basketball Tournament will tip off next Monday in New Hanover County. It’s a three day affair(June 20-22) and this will be the 5th year for the high school hoops event.
Unlike last year, Bow Wow will not be there, but Jordan Brand will still be involved. It’ll be less fanfare, but the field keeps getting bigger and bigger. Laney High will be the hub location, yet there will be a handful of different venues used for the basketball showcase. “It’ll be good old fashioned basketball with the high schools representing their program and their players,” Laney head coach Nathan Faulk said. “It’s an exciting time to build the program and look at your roster. I have teams from South Carolina, Virginia and Chicago so we’re excited about a national flavor to the Port City. There will be about 60 teams in all, 48 boys team and 12 for girls.”
Games will start each day at 9am. Championship games are slated to start around 3pm on Wednesday at Laney High. Admission each day will be $6 for anyone 9 and up.
