BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Shallotte Middle School teacher who is facing drug charges quit her job this week.
In late June, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said Kelly Kiggins Hansen was charged with trafficking opium or heroin. Deputies said Hansen had between four and 14 grams of opium, among other drugs.
Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki said Hansen’s resignation was approved by the board Tuesday night and effective Wednesday. She also bonded out of jail last night before 6 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
Hansen was hired by BCS in August of 2004.
