WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating an incident outside a store that turned into a shooting.
Police said it happened around 11:15 p.m. last night in the 4200-block of Birchwood Drive. Police said a man was standing outside a convenience store asking for money when a clerk told him to leave. When the man refused, police said the clerk went into the store to retrieve his gun. When he went back outside, the clerk and man outside the store started to fight. Police did not specify what injuries the clerk sustained, but the man who was originally outside the store was shot in the leg.
Police said the man who shot the beggar was taken to WPD for questioning. There’s on word on his identity or any charged filed. Police said the investigation continues.
