WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Work on a highway ramp near the Causeway Project will cause nightly closures, starting this weekend.
According to a release from the NCDOT, the southbound ramp for US 421 near the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will be closed starting Sunday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The closures are planned through August 4, weather permitting.
The ramp is used by motorists on US 421 South after they pass the Battleship. They use the ramp to continue on 421, which also becomes US 76/17B over the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. The ramp happens after the split for the Brunswick County beaches. Crews are working on installing lights on the ramp in conjunction with the ongoing Causeway Project. That project is scheduled to be completed this November.
The detour will take drivers into Brunswick County where they’ll be able to take the first Leland exit, NC 133, to get back on the Causeway to get to the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and continue on US 421/76/17B.
