WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Area musicians are uniting Sunday for a common cause , to join the fight against House Bill 2.
A Stand Against HB2 concert was held at the Brooklyn Arts Center to support Equality NC in their fight against HB2.This is the third concert held in the state to raise awareness and money in hopes to repeal the law.
The event showcases more than 20 artists and musicians during an 11 hour concert. Stand Against HB2’s first event, in Winston Salem, raised more than $20,000.
Organizer Mike Allen said it’s an event about community and love.
“And to raise awareness about the damage that this law has done to our people, our state, our economy, and just a way to give musicians a way to raise their voices and be heard,” Allen said.
The concerts will continue across the state in the coming months.
