2016 Stuff the Bus Campaign kicks off in the Cape Fear

NEW HANOVER & PENDER COUNTIES, NC (WWAY) — The 2016 Stuff the Bus Campaign kicks off in New Hanover and Pender counties this weekend.

It’s a three-day back to school drive to help kids get supplies before school starts. Communities In Schools of Cape Fear will man “bus stops” at stores, asking shoppers to donate.

Supplies donated are given to counselors and social workers in the school systems, and they distribute them to students in need.

The campaign runs from Friday to Sunday, with buses parked at the Walmart in Monkey Junction, Walmart in Porter’s Neck, the Walmart in Burgaw, Office Depot on Oleander Drive, and Harris Teeter at Mayfaire Town Center.

Organizer Louise Hicks stopped by Good Morning Carolina to tell us all about the campaign. Watch the video interview for more.
