Trump draws big crowds, creates more controversy during Wilmington visit

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Thousands waited inside Trask Coliseum for Donald Trump to take the stage in Wilmington.

As a surprise guest, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani took the stage and introduced Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Trump addressed several topics in his speech including a big issue right here in North Carolina.

“What’s with voter ID?” Trump said.

Trump said photo identification should be a requirement for voting.



“I want to vote,” Trump said. “Here’s my identification as opposed to somebody coming up and voting 15 times for Hillary.”

It was something many sitting in the audiences were glad to hear.

“It’s something that needs to be done,” a supporter said. “You’ve got to show your id for everything else.”

Hillary Clinton was also a topic that came up several times in his speech.

“Hillary wants to raise taxes,” Trump said. “I want to lower them. It’s a comparison. Hillary wants to expand regulations. I will reduce them very substantially.”

Trump also touched on global and national issues especially on guns and terrorism.

“If that woman or this man had a gun in Paris or San Bernandino. I have said this 100 times. If the bullets were flying in the other direction, this would have been a different story.”

Trump also told the crowd clinton wants to take away gun rights, but hinted there may be a way to block that effort.

“By the way if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” Trump said. “Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”

Trump touched on several topics and thousands inside Trask Coliseum were touched by his visit to the port city .
“It was great,” a supporter said. “I was overwhelmed in tears at some moments.”
