Lifeguard stand breaks apart at Wrightsville Beach during Hermine arrival

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Even though it’s Labor Day weekend a lifeguard stand was empty when a gust of wind knocked the stand over this afternoon.

Lifeguard stand number #6 at Wrightsville Beach split in half. The bottom half of the stand stayed in place. The top of the stand has a new home about 25 feet away.

The stand was apparently built without any reinforcements. The exposed nails held the stand together for years, but it could not handle Hermine.
