BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — While many are out enjoying one of the last few days of summer, it’s still a normal day at work for others.
Olive Garden is showing their appreciation for those who work endlessly for their communities. This year, the Olive Garden in Wilmington decided to treat first responders in Brunswick County. Employees gathered at the the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office for a catered lunch of the restaurant’s popular salads, bread sticks, and pasta.
The restaurant usually serves New Hanover County for its annual Labor Day lunch but decided to do something different this year. Manager Dannielle Callahan and her kids took part of their day to deliver the meals. She said it’s just a way to give back to those who give to the community.
“It’s just a small token, just to show appreciation,” Callahan said. “It goes a long way, so we just want to make sure that they’re taken care of.”
More than 800 Olive Garden restaurants across the country are participating in today’s event.
