WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The NCAA made a statement regarding North Carolina’s HB2 law. The ACC made one as well. Where does the CAA stand? UNCW is scheduled to host a handful of championship events over the coming months. Will the university be able to continue to serve in the host role? “The CAA is continuing to monitor all aspects of a conference championship event being held in the state of North Carolina,” CAA commissioner Joe D’Antonio announced. “At all CAA championship events our goal is to provide an environment in which our fans, student-athletes, administrators and all people involved in the event are treated fairly and in a non-discriminatory manner. I will continue to work with our Council of Presidents and Athletics Directors in assessing this matter going forward.”
Assistant CAA Commissioner Rob Washburn added that there are no plans to move any CAA championships out of North Carolina at this time.
UNCW is scheduled to host conference championships this school year in baseball, women’s golf and volleyball.
