WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tropical Storm Julia continues to spin along the South Carolina coast. Julia is a minimal tropical storm packing winds of 40mph mainly over the coastal waters. Heavy showers have been plaguing portions of the South Carolina coast. As a result, Flash Flood Watches are in effect for the coastal regions of South Carolina up into portions of coastal southeast North Carolina. Julia is expected to move slowly and erratically over the next few days due to the upper level steering currents remaining weak.
The impacts of Tropical Storm Julia over the Cape Fear Region are mainly going to be from the possibility of heavy showers which could pose a flooding threat. Also, dangerous rip current risk will remain high along the south and east facing beaches.
