WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — October is full of frightening fun, and so is Ashley’s Adventures.
I’ve heard rumors of Wilmington being haunted, but I wanted to know more.
This week, we’re going on the Ghost Tour of Old Wilmington.
Tours run all year long, but vary in frequency depending on the month. All tours, however, start and end at the Black Cat Shoppe on Market Street.
Each tour is a mile and a half long and takes 90 minutes, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Running shoes might be your best choice.
“If you see something on this tour that frightens you, if you experience something that makes you want to scream and run away, let me know before you run,’ said Steve Gallian, my tour guide, “And if you see me running, try and catch up.”
The tour takes you through Downtown Wilmington, into graveyards, under Spanish moss, in back alleys and into historic neighborhoods.
You’ll hear tales of old hospitals, haunted homes, people buried alive and so much more.
The stops vary with each tour and guide.
Each tour features 4-5 stories, with a rotation of 20 different tales. This means you can go year after year, learning something new every time.
