BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Some people living near the Cape Fear River in Bladen County are being evacuated due to significant flooding in the area.

Bladen County Services said crews would begin a door-to-door evacuation operation on Burney Road and River Road between White Oak and Tar Heel this morning.

Officials encourage people to evacuate these areas before the roads become impassible due to flooding of the Cape Fear River.

Emergency officials warn people not to be on the roads unless you are evacuating to a safe area, but to be vigilant for flood water.

Voluntary evacuations are still in place for areas along the South River and Black River.

If you need to evacuate, a shelter is still open at East Bladen High School located at 5600 NC-87 E, Elizabethtown. It is pet-friendly.
