HALLSBORO, NC (WWAY) – This week on Ashley’s Adventures I am getting lost.
Galloway Farm is open year-round. In the fall, however, it offers a special treat.
Maze Craze is an 11-acre corn field with 5 miles of trail to navigate, making it the largest maze in the Eastern United States.
The goal isn’t to simply get through the maze, but to find its ten checkpoints. At each stop you’ll mark your map with a hole punch.
Owners say it can get overwhelming, but cheating won’t help you.
“Each punch has a different shape,” said Alma Galloway, farm owner. “So, if they punch multiple at one place we automatically know they didn’t find all of them.”
Families who punch all ten are entered into a grand drawing at the end of the year. Prizes range from $500 to gaming consoles.
Galloway Farm also features a kid maze.
The much smaller 2-acre maze features a scavenger hunt, a fairy tale trail and anti-bullying lesson.
The mazes are just a few of the many activities the farm offers.
I enjoyed the hayride. Kids can hop on the barrel train. There’s even pedal car racing for kids and adults.
For the kids, and the kids at heart, you’ll find corn hole, a gigantic slide and skee ball.
This year, the farm is also offering pumpkins from Bullock Pumpkins in Chadbourn.
Make sure to bring your walking shoes, maybe even a picnic. You’ll want to spend all day at Galloway Farm!
