Randy Aldridge and Helen Holt went ‘Over the Edge’ for Dreams of Wilmington.

Dreams of Wilmington is a non-profit that provides children with free multi-disciplinary art classes from pottery to drawing to musical theatre.

Staff says instead of having a typical fall gala at the door they wanted to take this fundraiser to new heights.

“We are hoping to raise 80,000 dollars,” Executive Director Matt Carvin said. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Normally we do a gala but this is a lot more fun and we hope it’s just as successful.”

Actor Orlando Jones also made the 120-foot drop Friday afternoon. More than 60 people are expected to repel down Saturday.

“We actually have three of our dreamers who are going over the edge and that’s something that’s exciting because you can sponsor a dreamer to go over the edge,” Carvin said. “These kids are really excited to do stuff like this. They are adventurous and i’m looking forward to seeing these kids to go over too.”

It’s not too late if you want to participate. Click here to register.

“We have two seniors from Plantation Village going over. Plantation Village’s motto is retirement redefined and there’s no better way to do that than to send some of your residents over the edge.”

You can also just come and support with a $10 fee when you get there and that includes food, music, and of course entertainment.
