EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NC (WCTI) – The driver of the school bus that rolled over in Edgecombe County on Friday morning has been charged with careless and reckless driving.
NewsChannel 12’s Aisha Mbowe spoke with a N.C. State Trooper who told her of the charges. The driver said in a statement the driver was trying to avoid a deer when she lost control of the bus.
There were 19 children on the bus at the time of the accident, which happened at 7:10 a.m. at 2184 Stallings Road in Macclesfield. Both lanes of the road were closed but have since reopened. The accident was not far from where the road intersects with Edgewood Church Road.
