Teen to be tried as adult in Tabor City woman’s murder

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – A teen charged in the murder of a Columbus County woman will be tried as an adult.

The District Attorney’s office says there was a transfer hearing in juvenile court and the judge ruled the case be transferred to Superior Court.

On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Riley Dawson Conner, 16, on multiple charges in the death of Felicia Moore Porter.

Conner was 15 when he was arrested in April. At the time, his identity was not released.

Porter was reported missing in March. She was last seen at a grocery store in Tabor City.  A few days later, her body was found in the woods near her home.

Conner is charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering
  • Larceny after Break/Enter
  • Possession of Stolen Goods (2 counts)
  • Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
  • First Degree Forcible Rape
  • Murder
