WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Normally open at 7:30 a.m. and closed at 2 after lunchtime, Parchies is keeping it’s doors open for the dinner crowd this week.

“At Hanover they’re having a basketball tournament and so we thought we could stay open later, we could feed the kids and give them a little big of a discount,” said assistant manager Nick Wishon.

The restaurant is benefiting from the Phenom Hoop Joe Miller Invitational over at Brogden Hall this week with modified hours to better suit the players. Wishon said they’re open this week from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Over the course of the week, Wishon said they’ve seen a steady increase in customers.

“It’s been getting better gradually. I think it’s just been getting spread word of mouth because on Monday it was kinda slow, then the kids came in then Tuesday was better and today it was pretty good,” Wishon said.

The tournament is bringing in players, coaches and fans from around the country.

“A lot of people have been coming in and the teams that are from out of state, they’ve been trying and they really love the food,” Wishon said.

He said they’ve had out of towners from as far as Kentucky and Miami come in for a bite.
