WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds splashed into the New Year as part of the 2017 Wrightsville Plunge at Crystal Pier.
People of all ages dressed in costumes, speedos and bathing suits to take a dip in the sub-sixty degree waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The proceeds of the event supported Communities in Schools of Cape Fear. It is an organization that ensures that students have the resources they need to stay in school and graduate high school.
In addition to supporting a great cause, the event allowed everyone to kick off the New Year with some fun.
“I’m going to turn 62 in a couple of days,” Mary Palazzolo, one of the participants, said. “Let’s be a little adventurous. I’m jumping in and starting the New Year off right.”
You could see all the fun that the participants were having, so our very own Dustin Dorsey even joined in on the fun as well.
Happy New Years everyone!
