Three teens and adult arrested for Pender County break-ins


PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Surf City police say a witness helped arrest three people accused of breaking into cars in the Turtle Creek neighborhood.

Police say on Sunday, someone spotted three people breaking into a vehicle and removing items from it.

The witness called police.

Police spotted the suspects running on Leyland Way in the Turtle Creek subdivision.

Police ran after the suspects and caught them.

Police arrested Isabel Canihan, 16, and Tyler Harris, 20, both from Surf City and Bryce Teachey, 17, from Hampstead.

Canihan, Harris and Teachey all faces multiple charges including 7 counts of  Breaking/Entering Vehicles, 7 counts of Larceny, and 3 counts of Attempted Auto Breaking/Entering.

Canihan also faces Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule IV Xanax, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Littering charges.

When police searched the homes of the suspects they found stolen property inside. Some of which included Christmas lawn ornaments.

Teachey also has prior charges. He was arrested in December for 1 count of Felony Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, 1 count of Felony Possession of Stolen Firearm and 1 count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.

Also on Sunday,  Surf City Police Sergeant Chris Houser saw a teen breaking into a car in the Hampstead Pines Subdivision. The teen was confronted and then caught after he ran off. The 15-year-old was taken into custody and turned over to Pender County Sheriff Deputies.
