WILMINGTON, NC (CFA RELEASE) — On Thursday January 19th CFA will induct the inaugural class in Cape Fear Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Throughout our school’s first fifty years many outstanding students have had brilliant athletic careers, but seven have distinguished themselves to the extent to have their jerseys retired. Exhibiting outstanding character as well, these men and women embodied our school’s core values of integrity, respect, resilience and accountability while at CFA and in their lives thereafter. We will honor them at a reception on the 19th (Invitation to event attached – media are allowed to attend, please RSVP) and then introduce them during halftime of the Homecoming Varsity Boys’ Basketball game the following night versus Coastal Christian Academy. The following CFA alumni will be inducted:
Wendy Brock Rosinbaum, 1979 — Basketball
Will Stanfield, 1988 – Basketball
David Smith, 1988 – Basketball
Sprague Paynter, 2003 — Basketball
Elizabeth Cherry Stern, 2004 – Field Hockey
Paige Bufkin, 2009 — Softball
Alex Smith, 2009 – Lacrosse, Soccer
At the reception, we will also welcome featured speaker Dr. Greg Dale, Director of Sport Psychology and Leadership Program for Duke Athletics. As seen on Good Morning America, MSNBC, and numerous national radio programs, Dr. Dale speaks throughout the country on excellence and ethics in sports and has worked closely with Duke’s interscholastic teams.
