Cape Fear Regional Bicycle Plan now available for public review


CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) – A full draft of the Cape Fear Bicycle Plan is now available for public download, review, and comment at

The plan was created after a year-long planning process with input from a steering committee and more than 450 Cape Fear residents.

The purpose of the plan is to identify opportunities for improving bicycling in the Cape Fear region. It covers Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender Counties as well as southern Bladen, western Onslow, and southern Sampson Counties.

The project website features links to the plan’s full draft, ways in which guests can participate, and instructions for leaving comments. Interested residents will also have an opportunity to provide input in-person during upcoming outreach sessions in February, March, and early April. The session schedules are as follows:

  • Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Brown Dog Coffee Company, 103A W Fremont Street, Burgaw, NC, 28425
  • February 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Shallotte Crossing shopping center in front of Belk, 130 Shallotte Crossing Pkwy #1, Shallotte, NC 28470.
  • March 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at 102 Town Hall Drive, Leland, NC 28451
