WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Li Zhu, or Stella Li as she goes by, traveled half way around the world to teach Mandarin Chinese at Williston Middle School.
She says she came here because she wanted to teach, but also to “widen your mind.”
The Mandarin Chinese class is new to Williston. It is the first year of the International School and the first exposure Ms. Li’s students have had to this language.
She says that is a good thing because “they have no base knowledge about it and it makes them more curious about how the language works.”
She utilizes everything she can to teach including conversation, cooking and even Kung Fu.
In the end she wants everyone to have “more understanding about other cultures or more tolerance about other cultures.”
