WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Trot Nixon, who played for 12 years in the Major Leagues for three different baseball teams, will be the guest speaker at the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame Luncheon.
The event will be held on March 10 at 11:30 a.m. in the City Club. Tickets are $40 and will include a meal.
The luncheon will spotlight experiences Nixon had playing baseball and where he is today.
Nixon was inducted into the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 and spent several years as the in-studio analyst for WWAY’s 5th Quarter.
He attended New Hanover High School, where he was named Baseball Player of the Year. He was offered a football scholarship to NC State, but ultimately chose a career in baseball. He was drafted by the Red Sox in the first round of the 1993 MLB Draft, and played with them until 2006.
