FORT FISHER/SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) —  Civil War Park Day is Saturday, April 1st, and volunteers are needed to make it a success.  Organizers at four historic sites, including Fort Fisher and NC Maritime Museum in Southport are asking for people to help clean and polish up the landmarks as the tourist season gets underway.

History enthusiasts, Boy or Girl Scout troops, youth groups or others interested in community service are urged to volunteer.   Civil War Park Day is designed to preserve our nation’s heritage and keep Civil War parks pristine.
