JACKSONVILLE, NC (WCTI) — MCAS New River Staff Sergeant Joshua Block was scheduled to go to court early Wednesday in Onslow County according to the North Carolina Court System.
Block is accused of killing 16-year-old Dixon High School student, David Palacio, at a bus stop on Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville, Monday morning.
Block is charged with two felonies: Involuntary manslaughter and passing a stopped school bus, causing death.
Block is from Atascosa, Texas and was booked at the Onslow County Jail with a bond set at $40,000, according to the Jacksonville Daily News.
Palacio was killed on Monday around 6:40 a.m. on Dawson Cabin Road near Stillwood Road. The bus was traveling toward Hwy. 17 and stopped in front of a home. The stop arm was extended on the school bus and the bus driver waved Palacio to cross.
