Historic Home Tour: 216 McRae Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Imagine living in downtown Wilmington in the area’s only row house.

The Carl W. Polvogt Row Houses were built in 1915 by Wilmington merchant Carl Polvogt.

The stucco over brick exterior has heavy window hoods and individual porch entries.

Bill and Amelia Ferimer have lovingly restored their unit which features a back to back fireplace for the living and dining rooms, as well as a restored trunk room.

They love living downtown, but for Bill there’s more.

“The thing I love most about living in a hundred year old home is the stories behind it,” Bill Ferimer said. “You just feel like it’s a neat place to live. It’s unique and nobody else in the world has a home like this.”

The Carl W. Polvogt Row House is one of the 10 homes on the 2017 Historic Wilmington Foundation Home Tour.
