WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The weather lately has been prime for a round of golf and soon you’ll see a new generation of players at the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course.
The First Tee of Greater Wilmington now has a new location there and city leaders got a preview of it Tuesday.
The organization offers life skills experience curriculum for kids ages 7 to 18 regardless of background or previous experience.
There are six other locations across New Hanover and Pender counties.
Kids are teamed up with experts with the goal to become good golfers and even better people.
“As they leave here hopefully they will reflect on another way to approach the world and to be better citizens and more productive citizens, but at the same time enjoy the game of golf and hopefully use that as a sport they play throughout their life,” Chairman Gordon Dalgleish said.
The official opening will be held on the Tuesday of the Wells Fargo Championship. Dalgleish says once the tournament is over this is way something meaningful is left behind in the community.
