WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wells Fargo Community Mural Program and its local partners unveiled the newest mural at Wilmington’s International airport.
The Wells Fargo Mural commemorates the Port City’s aviation and naval histories and includes historical images of the airport, the USS North Carolina, and the early steam-powered ship on the Cape Fear River.
The Eagle Point Golf Club Course, the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, and the local Red Cross pioneers are also featured.
Manager of the Mural Program Beth Currie said this is one of more than 2,500 murals they have made around the country.
“The airport is going to have a lot of visitors coming through here. Not only last week with the Azalea Festival, but coming up for the Wells Fargo Championship, and we want everyone to see what Wilmington means to Wells Fargo,”Currie said.
Currie said they try to partner with a museum and historical societies in each town they have made a mural to make sure the mural highlights the city’s legacy.
